88 928 Auto keeps running for a few minutes after the key is turned off and removed.
Any ideas?

Meeting up with Wayne (NYC) at our Maryland GTG and he has the problem.

I don't know if the fuel pump is running after the car is off but can't think it is scavenging fuel for three to five minutes turned off.

first look at the CE panel and look for water drips or tell tale drips stains ,(look up). if this is happening then check the relays for corroded pins , if you find any (then you need to reseal the bottom of the blower box,) open any corroded relays to inspect the insides they can sometimes look good on the outside and fill with water on the inside.
If all is good here then i would consider replacing the ignition switch, disconnect the battery before you remove the pod, or work on the CE panel

Are you saying it is "dieseling" or is it properly running, as if everything was normal, except the key is off?

if the ignition switch shorts out inside there is a possibility that the electric connection that keeps the car running wont disengage, even with the key turned to the off position.
Remember that the key only turns the steering wheel locking cylinder and the actual igniton switch is screwed onto the rear side of the key cylinder,. So all thats happening when you turn the key is move a rotary switch and unlock the steering lock.
Usually the pod must be removed to replace the IG switch, it is held onto the key cylinder with 2 screws at 12 and 6 O clock, the lower screw can usually be removed without removing the pod but the upper one is very tight with the pod on.
Remember to always DISCONNECT the BATTERY before working on Pod removal or any elex parts

Check the heated rear window switch also. I seem to have in my mind that if the timer relay sticks on it effectively energises the ignition circuit causing the car to conitue running. Sometimes it is just the push button itself sticking "pushed in"
