Default so cal or nor cal based 356 shop

first time posting over here. Always lurking in the race and cup car section.

We have a 1960 with the solex carbs that I need to get serviced for my dad. Want to drive on weekends but after it sits for a couple of weeks can never start. Previus shop way too busy to work on car for a year.

Anyways looking for a shop in so cal or nor cal at this point that we can trust and take the car to and get running well. Car is concourse quality resto so needs to be someone that can take care of car.

Our past "go to" shop was in valencia and owner died many years ago

thanks for your feedback

Larry Markham is in Somis, closed his shop in Burbank but still does some work from the barn he built next to his new home (close to Thousand Oaks). He's a master and if you have a higher end car, definitely someone you should consider. Don't have his new number in my contacts but could dig it up in email from our mutual friend in Holland.

I have my lowly '60 driver (at least they promise it will be a driver when I get it back) with TLG in North Hollywood (Tony Geraci), but not back yet so can't give a real reco but I think Tony is highly experienced and does good work. There are others in SoCal, but haven't worked with them.

You might want to try and locate Pete Zimmerman. I think he is sort of retired now but he is one of the best Porsche mechanics and.......
he lives in Bakersfield!

Pete's RL name is Peter Zimmermann, you could send him a PM.

Mark Bixen took over Red Line Service and they are in West LA. Pete has been out of the game since the 90s I believe. He is still around on the boards though

+1 for Larry Markham. Another excellent choice is John Willhoit in Long Beach. He is a world-famous restorer, but I think he does servicing as well. He does build motors, mostly high-performance ones.

After Peter you can always truck over to Santa Barbara and take it into Schneider Autohaus, where they have looked after many a 356 over the decades. The original owner, now retired, still comes in and works on 356s periodically.
