You're more than welcome to check out the car sometime. I live in the Hollywood area, but I'll likely be storing it in Pasadena eventually. Send me a PM or else come down to Luftgekuhlt as I plan on bringing her there.

Black/tan is the original colour combination.

Vivian
Thanks, Vivian, may make it to Luftgekuhit but not sure yet. Will look you up if I can make it. Otherwise, I may PM you some day, would love to check out your 356. I'm in Glendale, close to Hollywood (where I grew up) and Pasadangerous (where FGL hangs, or is it South Pasadangerous?).

Cheers!

I used to drive a 57 Speedster, also black, from the Bay Area to PS and beyond. Was not daunting but the most exhilarating driving experience I ever had and that includes 914-6's, a 930, a 75 Carrera, a chipped 951 and a bunch of 968's. I'd trade everything I have today to get that car back.

Yours is incredible and I am sick with envy. Also, imagining that you could have probably had almost anything new for the same price. Congrats!

I'm looking for photos to post. There is a famous painting of the car called "Sandy Beaches" that was created for the 90 Monterey Parade and sold at Hansen's Gallery on Ocean Ave. in Carmel. for $60,000. A Google of "Sandy Beaches, Colleen Ross" pops it up every time. Check the chick on the hood.

I love your car!

^Cool retro art!

Vivian, as I said above, "be safe". Don't know if you are aware of the horrible Speedster crash in San Diego last Sunday (see OT), but it makes you somber and food for thought.

Thanks. I'm loving this car so much. It's my first 356, but it definitely won't be my last; I'm already eyeing a couple of B roadsters. Driving a 356 is cathartic.

I saw that. So very sad and so completely avoidable.

that's a beaut, a real black pearl ... congrats and keep enjoying!
Need to find a proper picnic basket for the back and take the family for a summer spin

Interesting to see how many GT3 owners are popping up here.

Just bought a project myself ... 56C, Irish Green over Fawn, currently stripped and getting ready for glass bead blasting.

Yeah, that's quite a project alright. Good luck with that!

The old bangers are in stark contrast to the GT3s; they scratch a very different itch.
