Default 58 speedster

I realize most folks here hate these types of threads. Apologies to those folks in advance.

I've been offered a Speedster! Car is in Texas tucked away in a barn.

Wrong engine.

Repainted the wrong color.

Been crashed a bunch of times.

Wrong seats

It runs and drives. Needs new floorpans, but otherwise does not have much rust.

I have no earthly idea what is a reasonable number to pay.

Any guidance is helpful.

I'm not looking to make money on this deal. Just want to pay a fair number.

Thank you

I wouldn't pay a dime over $100K for it.

Texas car with only rusted floor? Seems unlikely. If there is rust in the floor, expect rust elsewhere. Been crashed a bunch of times? Could (probably?) have to straighten chassis.

The value of those cars continues to rise. But it can't go on forever.

What are the colors?

Thanks for the feedback.

Owner is looking for materially more than 100k

Texas climate is not harsh on cars....

Car is originally black on red...

Currently sliver

Great colors. Is the engine a Super or Normal? '58 is the most desirable year. These days, a replaced floor doesn't seem to affect value as much.

Do you have pictures?

I'd go up to $125. However; cars like these usually require $250+ to restore and 3 years of your life. Sometimes easier to pay $400k for a perfect one

that is the crux of my question.... after a six figure restoration (call it 250)... will it ever be worth 400 given its history? Non match engine... presumably the resto would return it to its original color etc....

I don't want to make money on this... I just dont want to overpay.

Thanks for the feedback!

unknown old speedsters do not grow on trees.
Car is worth between 100k-150k.

If it had original engine and transmission it could see upwards of 200k in its current condition.

Life is short, opportunities do not come by like this all the time, id try $125k and have another $25k stuffed in my jeans at $5000.00 in each pocket just incase.

Fun car to own, but expensive game to play. You will burn another $100k on a restoration.

Id outlaw it a little on the resto since it is not numbers matching..
