1960 D Roadster with matching engine
#16
love to hear what the price is when its sold. My dad has a 60 Roadster 1600 Super all matching numbers - he;s the original owner - have cert of authenticty, its got 41K miles from new. starts first time every time. its had a re paint a while ago - and a new top back in 1967... otherwise its in pretty much daily driver condition. no rust - original floors chrome a bit pitted here and there but otherwise its a time warp car.

Well it is back from the paint shop and all the pieces are going back on. His friend just sold a B coupe for north of 110k cash in a suitcase.

Remarkably enough, I think these values are a little low now. Not by a lot, maybe 15%.
Dave292 - curious where you value estimates come from? I am inclined to agree with 89826 based on auction sales as reported in the 356Registry over past year even before commissions. Would love to see larger data base.

I'm always looking at cars for sale. By always, I mean every day. These cars ,356's, can very greatly based on condition and usually auction cars tend to set the records but I really can't tell you why. Some are spectacular while others are not worth what they sell for. Maybe it's the auction energy or maybe people don't really know these cars and tend to buy them because they shine.
I do know that many buyers are not versed in rust, matching numbers, body prep and mechanical fitness of these cars. There are many horror stories. I guess what it always comes down to is finding the right buyer and the right price for your car.

Yes- even the 356 reviewers decriptions of the cars there is wide variation in quality and their comments of "well sold" , "well bought" for the various 356s is aleays a good read.
