Default 64c tach help

Hello!

'64 356c with 912 engine.
Tach doesn't work.
356c and 912 wiring diagrams both show an electronic tach.
Tach in car has mechanical connection.
Do I have wrong tach?
Now what?
Replace tach? Modify tach?

Thanks!
BK

After a new cable in my 64C and it snapped again, it seems the tach needs a rebuild. The resistance is stressing the cable. I'd recommend you rebuild the tach and replace the cable at the same time.

Early 356C cars had a mechanical tach and later C cars had the electric tach. You can change the set up where the tach connects to your 912 engine to have the gear-driven mechanical tachometer set up by sourcing the correct oil pump cover and gears:

The gears are shown here: http://www.stoddard.com/356-1/door-p...at=41&limit=60
