Default Can you tell me about this 356?

This is a picture of my grandpa and his 356 taken back in Sept 65. It looks like a speedster but i'm no expert. Also not sure of the year? That's why i'm posting it on here. I can't ask him because he has since passed on.

Sure looks like a Speedster. Let me forward this to my father - he's had a Speedster and a '65 C coupe.

Here you go:

Chris,

It has the later tail lights. (not bee hive type). I would guess 57 or 58. Better yet, the car behind it looks like a Fury.

Thanks! I've been doing a little looking tonight and it does seem like it's a 57 or a 58.
The only thing that's throwing me off is the license plate light is above the license plate rather than below it. And it has the teardrop lights rather than the beehive.

Here is what i read on the 356 registry,
"March 1957 is a major reference point to tell cars apart. In the rear, two significant changes were made: the beehive taillights used since 1953 were replaced by a one-piece teardrop unit on each side while the housing for the license plate light and back-up light was moved from above the license plate ("shine down") to below the license plate ("shine up")".

I believe its a convertible 'D' or D type for Drauz Austria, made in 1959 ,one year only model that takes
a number of styling cues from the speedster but retains roll up windows like a later cab.
Very rare and desireable ,Bert

Oh and the car behind it is a 'Galaxie 500' by Ford circa '68/'69

I second the Conv D comment. Windscreen is too tall to be a Speedster.
