Default Loud window squeaks when rolling down...

I’m getting a loud squeak when I roll down the drivers side window. The sound is reminiscent of fingernails on a chalkboard. Makes me cringe. It doesn’t happen all the time, but on select days – I guess it depends on the humidity or other weather conditions. Anyone know how to address this problem and/or any quick fixes?

Thanks so much.

I wax my windows when this starts with regular car wax. It lasts a month or so here in FL.

That sounds like a good idea. I suppose i should determine if the squeak noise is coming from the window's pressure against the inside weather strip or the outside first though.

oh really, so it's the strain on the motor that's causing the noise? Hmmmmmm very interesting. Thanks for that. Knowledge sharing is so awesome.

No, it is not the strain on the motor that causes the squeaking. I think he meant that when the humigity is low, there is a limited amount of moisture to "lubricate" the window and/or the weather stripping, which results in the squeaking of the window as it moves against the dry weather stripping. This happens to my car occasionally, too.

Yes, what i meant was the sound was coming from the friction from the window and weather striping, not fromt he motor itself. I will try the Zymol wax method. Thanks for the advice guys.

If you have a grinding noise it may be your window regulator that's going. Waxing window should help squeeling but I just use a little vinyl/rubber protectant like 303 on the outside piece of trim seems to work for months.

Mine did that after I Rejex'ed the windows. Not at all dissing Rejex, anyone will tell you I love this product. But it causes my windows to screetch when winding. After I cleaned them down with fairy liquid then viniger they dont sqieak any more.

Scouser - I know you are in England and "American English" is slightly different from "the King's English" but what the hell is "fairy liquid?" I hate to even tell you what I "think" it is!
