Default How to manually adjust power seats?

I just bought the "Emergency Crank Tool" for my power seats, but it does not seem to match up with the spine in the front of my seats.

I will try again and post a photo, but before I break anything I need to verify that this goes into the vertical hole in the front of my seat, right? I don't have an owner's manual either. (sigh)

It's an allen key, perhaps 5 or 6mm. If the seat is not free to move you will strip the plastic teeth on the cog.

So this allen crank simply turns the plastic cog? I will try again, but that sounds like using a hammer to swat a fly on a window.

The seat should manually crank pretty easily, albeit slowly. If it seems jammed, or some of the plastic gear teeth are broken, you can remove the plastic cover under the front of the seat, and disconnect the two flexible drive shafts from the motor, the ends of which you can then clamp in a drill's chuck and turn. Be mindful not to move one side too far ahead of the other, or else you might wind up wedging the seat between the rails; try to move it more or less evenly, switching the drill back and forth between each side until positioned properly.
