How tight is 30 inch pounds?
I am installing the SmarTire tire pressure monitoring system in conjunction with mounting some new tires. The instructions say to tighten the stainless steel strap that holds the sensor inside the tire to 30 inch pounds.
I have a torque wrench but it doesn't go down to inch pounds so I am asking how tight is 30 inch pounds relatively speaking? Can you describe it?
(Can't wait to see the smart-aleck answers )

Relatively speaking; not very tight. 30 in lbs is the lowest setting on my 1/4" torque wrench. I'm thinking it's probably only finger tight with a 1/4" ratchet, but of couse that's rather vague too.
Maybe it would be a good idea to put some blue loctite on the bolt that holds that thing in there too.

Kary I have an HP reverse polish notation one that has a finger treadmill on it and you can recharge it by letting your fingers do the charging!!

About equal to grabbing a 1/4" ratchet wrench by the head with your fingertips and twisting the head. Prob. come close.
Then again, could go out and buy a danged torque wrench with the proper range, cheapskate.

Ray's answer is closest to what I was looking for. My torque wrench goes down to 25 foot pounds. I wanted an idea of how tight the feel should be if I just used a ratchet.
I'll suck it up and buy the darn wrench...
Thanks everyone!

Here is my description: take 2.5ft long wrench, put it around the nut, apply 1 pound of force(tie 1lb bag of potatoes) to the other end of the wrench - that's how much 2.5ft/lb torque is.
