Default GT3 Delivery Dates.......????

I have been talking to the dealer I have bought my Porsches before in order to buy a GT3.

Well after going back and forth all day it seems like nobody know much as far as delivery dates. According to them they spoke with their Porsche representative to find out more specifics and the answer was that I would get one sometime next year. Maybe january maybe december maybe june who knows........Very disappointing to say the least.

Strategy, production uncertainties, holding the market to charge more....again who knows.

I guess my business is different because if a client wants to give me money in advance first of all I would not turn the money away and second I would probably try my best to come up with a delivery date for the product, but thats just me and I am nobody so maybe I should contemplate Porsche's way and try it with my next client........NOT!!!!!!

any of you guys know something different please enlighten me...

thanks

david

David I agree and share your frustration. Car introduction and production schedules are planned well in advance. To tell the customer we know nothing except we require a deposit is not a good business practice. Consider they have introduced the car and made many promotional statements but not prepared to back them up with journalist testing for another 5 months or so. Also, consider the fiasco with the sport bucket seats. Porsche is not handling this well.

Part of the 918 order is the VIP program where depositers on 918 get first right of refusal on all sought after cars including GT3

That makes sense. I imagine the higher you are on a dealer's list the better the chance of getting a GT3 even if one is scooped up by a 918 customer or two. Whatever, I don't need to be first on the block. I'll get one when I get one.

my florida dealers said "sold out"

my ohio dealers said "want one?"

i honestly don't see more than 100-150 918's being bought stateside... it's a great car, but it will never be an Enzo imo.

As of Oct of last year they had sold about 400 of i think around 1200 918 production. 918 owners get first dibs. I heard the first GT3s will be delivered late fall. The first ones will go to their best customers. That would be how I would do it too.

I think you guys are being a bunch of sensitivos. Relax, you'll get yours.

Based on past experience with buying in demand Porsches, the dealers get to decide who gets the first allocations, and each dealer has a different methodology.

I think Macca posted in another thread detailed build information, and IIRC, US spec cars will begin builds in October.

When I was at the dealer two weeks ago I got the full court press to buy the 918. Not once did they mention I would get my GT3 sooner if I bought the 918. If I am not mistaken, wasn't there was similar rumor about another model which was in demand?
