Hey folks, moving my sealed lead acid battery behind the passenger seat area, and want to know if a battery box is required or just covered terminals. if a battery box is required, then anyone know of small battery boxes that are available? (previously, my battery was way in the back in a battery compartement that i have cut out for weight savings)

(some of the rules require battery boxes for venting of the gases, but sealed lead acid dont have vents)

any help here would be nice. also to note, it is a small 14lb oddessy battery, so a big battery box is not really needed, but a small one if available, would be fine. actually, if anyone knows for sure, I would just like to cover the terminals and clamp it down. those battery boxes weigh 2.5lbs and thats the plastic type!

PCA does not require a battery box.

Is that a GT-2 car in PCA or are you running in a stock/improved class?

Great! Thanks. yes, its GT2 in PCA, but usually, GT2S, on hoosiers.

Hopefully, SCCA is on the same page there. seems kind of silly for a sealed battery to have to be in a box, when most of the boxes are so large, and the batteries are so small now..

Hey Guys;

Personally I would want the battery in a box. I know it is sealed and all, but batteries are potentially dangerous items in any configuration, and crazy unanticipated things happen in moments of duress.

That's 2.5lbs I'd be willing to give back. You can make that up with a good dump before the race!

Probably right about the battery box. Ill probably just find a smaller box made out of simular material and install it,and strap it down.
