The current production Porsche 911 GT3 RS isn’t necessarily the newest kid on the block, but its desirability among purists have made prices sky-rocket, and added to its mystique as Porsche’s most track-capable 911 ever.

The 911 GT3 and RS models have always been great sellers for the German manufacturer, and although the equation of getting “less” car for more money still amazes the likes of Jeremy Clarkson, the latest generation GT3 RS has by far exceeded Porsche’s sales expectations. But why?
