Slipper-Wearing Cayenne Driver Nearly Causes Head-On Wreck

Perhaps this was a case where having a designated driver may have actually been the less-safe option. Or at least it very nearly ended up that way after a Porsche Cayenne driver almost caused a head-on accident while on the way to pick up her husband from the pub.

Fortunately, other than some frazzled nerves, a little cosmetic damage to a couple of vehicles, and a viral shaming, everything appears to be fine. But as you can see in the dash-cam footage below, it doesn’t get much closer.

The footage comes to us via Damian Hodgson, who was driving his wife and two young children down the two-lane highway in East Yorks, U.K. when the Cayenne “came flying past,” according to the Mirror. The driver was attempting to pass another car, a Citroen, when she noticed an oncoming Skoda filling the lane. The Skoda quickly reacted by pulling up onto the embankment, as the Cayenne squeezed the Citroen, scraping the car as it passed.

Hodgson continued down the road and found the Cayenne and the Citroen pulled over to the side of the road. The elderly couple in the Citroen were in total shock, as well as the Cayenne driver, who “was shaking like a leaf,” said Hodgson. “She said she was picking her husband up from the pub and was wearing a pair of slippers.”

The Cayenne driver also told Hodgson that she always overtakes cars at that spot. Here’s hoping she won’t be attempting such dangerous maneuvers any more, and that her husband starts using Uber.
