Porsche Refuses to Take Blame for Paul Walker’s Death

If you thought Porsche wouldn’t fight the wrongful-death lawsuit filed by Paul Walker’s daughter, perhaps for PR reasons, you were wrong.

Almost two months ago, Walker’s daughter, Meadow, filed papers saying that Porsche didn’t design the 2005 Carrera GT to include proper safety features. This week, Porsche’s lawyers filed papers in court saying that Walker knew the risks and was ultimately to blame for the crash that killed The Fast and the Furious star back in 2013.

“Mr. Walker’s death, and all other injuries or damages claimed, were the result of Mr. Walker’s own comparative fault,” Porsche’s attorneys stated in court documents, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The documents go on to assert that the car in question, which belonged to Walker’s business partner Roger Rodas, had been altered and improperly maintained. And that Walker was “a knowledgeable and sophisticated user” of the car.

With consultation from Porsche technicians, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol investigation concluded that high speeds were to blame, not mechanics. But the lawsuit alleges that Porsche knew about the car’s “history of instability but failed to add a control system to address the issue.”

So there’s still plenty to sort out. And there’s plenty to discuss too, with some interesting perspective on the forum.
