While you and I were sleeping, Porsche was more than busy putting on a show for the press and unveiling the Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid at the Paris Motor Show.

After putting together a few promotional stunts around Europe, which included making Mark Weber drive his WEC-winning Porsche 919 race car through the streets of London, Porsche’s CEO finally opened up the stage in Paris to unveil their newest motoring technology.

The new Porsche plug-in hybrid sets off in purely electric mode, and drives without creating any emissions within a range of 31 miles and up to a shocking maximum speed of nearly 87 mph. Porsche claims this Panamera too is a sports car among the luxury sedans. The all-wheel Porsche achieves a top speed of 172 mph, and delivers of 516 ft. lb. of torque. The four-door hybrid sports car breaks the 60 mph barrier in just 4.6 seconds. The torque is transferred to all four wheels and the standard three-chamber air suspension ensures an optimum balance between comfort and dynamism at all times.

The Panamera 4’s high-tech e-hybrid technology is derived directly from Porsche’s supercar—the 918 Spyder, which had its technology trickled down from the Le Mans 919 race car. The rest of the Panamera still remains the same as the non-hybrid model, with its sleek looks, cool spoiler and executive back seat.

Enjoy the shots!
