Montoya Thinks the Porsche LMP1 Is a ‘Helluva Toy’

It’s no surprise that the Porsche 919 Hybrid, aka the Le Mans Prototype 1 (LMP1), is an amazing piece of four-wheel technological wonder. It doesn’t take a genius to know that about the lithium-ion-aided turbo-V4 hybrid with KERS. But it certainly adds an extra element of legitimacy when you hear that from the mouth of a certified top-tier racer like IndyCar, NASCAR, Champ Car, CART, and Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya.

Montoya had a turn in the car at the Bahrain International Circuit. And he had some very nice things to say after the experience.

“First impression is that the car is amazing,” Montoya said in an interview with Motorsport. “It’s a helluva toy, that’s the best way to describe it. I’ve driven all kinds of cars and it’s a lot of fun… It’s shocking because it’s so good. It’s actually in a way easy, but because it’s easy, it’s easy to go over [the limit].”
