Go Easy Purists: 1982 Porsche 928 Powered by Small Block V8

First of all, let me begin by saying that I’m not a hater. But I can’t be held accountable for what you guys will think of this 1982 Porsche 928 project.

You’re looking at the very first car in Jalopnik‘s new “Build of the Week” franchise, which I’m sure is quite an honor for Nick, the owner of this shell of a Porsche, who has purposefully removed the engine and filled that space with a modded Chevy small block V8. He’s also rocking a Corvette’s bell housing and adjustable coilovers from a circle track car.

But at least he’s still using the Porsche’s rear transmission.

This baby’s been built out with care though, up and down, all the way around to the roll bar, custom dash, and shaved body touches. You can tell she’s well-loved. And purity aside, why shouldn’t she be?

Sure, some folks here will probably find it abominable, but Nick’s been cranking on this thing for years. He’s obviously comfortable working on it, probably because the car must be far simpler than working on a normal 1982 928. And he’s made it his own, especially with that menacing flat black with metallic flake paint. It makes it something else entirely different than a 928, while still retaining those classic good looks.
