Ford-Powered 964 Hot Rod: Radical or Repulsive?

964 Hot Rod

Danton Arts Kustoms Built a Big Block-Powered 964 Hot Rod — and We Don’t Know what to Think Anymore

Porsche purists are among the most loyal and fervent bunch you’ll ever meet. Even the slightest of deviations from what Studdguart intended is sure to bring ridicule. But what you see before you might be the biggest act of sacrilege ever committed on any sort of Porsche. And regardless of what you think about it, this 964 hot rod is unlike anything we’ve ever seen.

The mad scientists behind this interesting build hail from the French hot rod shop known as Danton Arts Kustoms. And this 964 isn’t the only “unconventional” hot rod they’ve built, either. Maybe not even the most unconventional. Past builds include a Jeep Wrangler street rod and even a vintage Rolls Royce that sits on a CitroĂ«n chassis and uses an Oldsmobile diesel engine for power.

Their latest creation began life as an innocent 964, which they promptly chopped, stretched and robbed of its air-cooled heart. A big block Ford V8 was fitted up front, and a traditional set of big and little wheels and tires hang fenderless from each corner. Fittingly, the massive powerplant remains uncovered as well — perhaps for show, or perhaps out of necessity.

Plenty of folks are sure to scoff at this Franken-Porsche, but others may actually find it to be kind of (gasp!) cool. But one thing’s for sure: Nobody else is building cars like Danton Arts Kustoms. Maybe that’s a good thing, of course. But you certainly can’t fault them for daring to be different. Even if that means cutting up a (we assume) perfectly good air cooled Porsche.
