No matter how good of a driver you are, there are some things that you just can’t avoid. One of the most frequent examples of this is when a large four-legged object suddenly appears in front of your vehicle while it’s speeding down a stretch going well over 100 mph.

Sadly, this recently happened at Summit Point Motorsports Park to a Porsche 991 GT3 when it hit a deer at about 140 mph. Like many tracks, which require a large plot of land, Summit has plenty of forest right next to where the drivers are making their rounds. And in a state like West Virginia, the wildlife is somewhat abundant and can still make its way onto the track.

Considering the situation, the car actually did alright. According to a first-hand account, the driver was using a HANS device and both airbags were deployed. The deer didn’t hit on, but rather struck the car on the passenger side’s third, destroying the hood, bumper, quarter panel, light, and the windshield. The glass held together, and the deer did not crash through into the car. Fortunately, the driver came out safe and sound, and even posted to this forum.
