This 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster Is One Immaculate Beauty

The Porsche 550 Speedster may be the Holy Grail of the Speedster family, but its multi-million dollar price tag and hardcore nature isn’t the perfect fit for lots of wealthy Porsche connoisseurs. On the other hand the 550’s baby brother, the 356 is the complete opposite.

Curvaceous and not muscular, comfortable and not harsh, form over function and not the other way around — the 356 Speedster checks many boxes for the hardcore Porsche fan and aspiring collector. This particular model has been loved and pampered from day one by both of its owners, and is now for sale at the legendary Canepa showroom.

The best way to describe this 356 Speedster is complete. It’s gone through a complete restoration by one of the industry’s finest restorers, Tim Goodrich; it has matching numbers; original color combination; complete original tool kit with spare; original California back plate; Porsche certificate of authenticity; and to make it even more appealing, an incredibly low 73,400 original miles.

This beauty belonged to the first owner from 1958 until 1990, when a personal friend of Bruce Canepa purchased it and commended the full restoration so it could be brought to concours standards. Even an all-star upholsterer was flown in by the owner to take care of the interior, which judging by the photos, is absolutely exquisite.

Sources close to the car say that this 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster has only covered about 20 miles in the past 20 years. Which is somewhat good, but also downright disappointing considering what a pleasure it must be to drive this thing.
